Laki Volcano Day Trip

At 9 am we'll pick you up from your selected point in Kirkjubæjarklaustur and hop on a jeep for the drive to Laki Volcano, an hour and a half away. During the tour, we'll learn about the history of this volcanic rift, which erupted 200 years ago and significantly affected the climate of Europe, resulting in the loss of a quarter of the Icelandic population.

Upon arrival, we'll drive up the mountain for two and a half hours to enjoy views of the craters and the Vatnajökull glacier. A picnic lunch can be enjoyed at this location. From there, we'll travel to the Tjarnargígur crater, walking around it to reach the lake formed inside. We will also visit the hidden waterfall of Fagrifoss and hike through its narrow gorge.

Finally, we'll return to the jeep and head back to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, concluding the activity approximately 9 hours after the pick-up time.
