Laki Volcano Day Trip

At 9 am we'll pick you up from your selected point in Kirkjubæjarklaustur and hop on a jeep for the drive to Laki Volcano, an hour and a half away.

During the tour, we'll learn about the history of this volcanic rift, which erupted 200 years ago and had significant climatic impacts across Europe, along with devastating effects on the Icelandic population.

Upon arrival, we'll drive up the mountain for two and a half hours to appreciate views of the craters and the Vatnajökull glacier. A picnic lunch can be enjoyed during the excursion.

We will continue to the Tjarnargígur crater, where we will walk around and reach the lake formed inside. Additionally, we will visit the hidden waterfall of Fagrifoss, followed by a hike through its narrow gorge.

Finally, we'll return on the jeep to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, concluding the trip approximately 9 hours after the pick-up time.
