Embrace rural Cambodian life as you explore an incredible traditional floating village. Immerse yourself in the local culture of this unique setting on an excursion from Siem Reap.
Floating Village Tour Itinerary
On the morning of your tour, you will be picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap and head to the river port where you will board a boat. As you cruise up the river, leaving the tourist trail behind and delving deep into rural Cambodia, you will pass the luscious green rice paddies that play a crucial role in the country's economy.
As you sail up the river, you will arrive at the traditional Cambodian pagodas, markets, and houses inhabited by local people living their daily lives—albeit with a notable twist. The wooden buildings comprising the village of Kampong Phluk are constructed upon stilts in the Tonle Sap Lake, defining it as a true floating village.
During the visit, you will discover how people live in this unique setting, learning about the significance of seasonal changes to their routines. Certain months see rising and falling water levels radically altering the lifestyles of the locals—a community of around 3000 people.
At the conclusion of this enlightening experience, you will be taken back to your hotel in Siem Reap.
