Koh Ker Temples Day Trip

  • 11 Stunden

Visit one of Cambodia's largest ancient temple complexes. Your tour guide will reveal the hidden secrets of the crumbling shrines as you explore the jungle around Koh Ker and Beng Mealea.

Koh Ker Temples Day Trip Itinerary

After being picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap between 7:40 am and 8:10 am, you'll head out of the city to the northeast by bus. The journey will take you to one of the most important archaeological parks in Southeast Asia.

Following an approximately 56 mile (90 km) drive, you'll arrive at the former capital of the Khmer empire: Koh Ker. The second largest temple complex in Cambodia extends over 50 square miles (80 sq m) and has over 180 temples, with only a few accessible to visitors due to dense jungle growth.

Among the 10th century temples, Prasat Prang is notable for its seven-tiered pyramid structure, measuring 203 feet (62 m) wide and 118 feet (36 m) high. You will also visit Prasat Thom, Prasat Krahom, and Prasat Krachap, which are less frequented by tourists.

Next, you will visit Beng Mealea Temple. The history of this Hindu sanctuary has faded, and its crumbling walls are enveloped by surrounding trees. Access the ruins via a wooden walkway and observe the remaining stone carvings depicting Hindu mythology.

After exploring the temple ruins, you will have a meal at a local restaurant. You will return to your hotel in Siem Reap around 7 pm.
