Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Sigiriya at 10 am, we will head to Polonnaruwa.
About an hour and a quarter later, we will arrive at the ruins of this ancient kingdom founded by King Vijayabahu in 1070. There, we will switch from the minibus to bicycles to explore the ancient city.
We will then move to the outskirts of Polonnaruwa, where we will leave the bikes for a ride on an ox-drawn cart, a traditional means of transport in some Sri Lankan villages. Next, we will board a boat for a ride on Bendiwewa Lake to gain a new perspective of the area.
We will then travel by tuk tuk to the residence of a local farmer, who will explain the traditional lifestyle in the countryside.
After this visit, we will return to the minibus and drive to the ancient monastery of Pidurangala to admire the ruins. If you are in good physical shape, you can climb Pidurangala Rock for the best views of Sigiriya. The effort is worthwhile.
We will return you to your hotel in Sigiriya by 2 pm.
