Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Sigiriya at 10 am, we'll travel to our first destination: Polonnaruwa.
Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes later, we will reach the ruins of this ancient kingdom founded by King Vijayabahu in 1070. Upon arrival, we will transition from the minibus to bicycles to explore the ancient city.
Next, we will head to the outskirts of Polonnaruwa to switch from bikes to an ox-drawn cart, a traditional means of transport in some Sri Lankan villages. Following this, we will board a boat for a ride on Bendiwewa Lake to gain a different perspective of the area.
We will then take a tuk tuk to a local farmer's residence, where the traditional countryside lifestyle will be explained. After this visit, we will return to the minibus and drive to the ancient monastery of Pidurangala to explore its ruins. For those in good physical shape, there is an option to climb Pidurangala Rock for panoramic views of Sigiriya.
Finally, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving at 2 pm.
