Goñicutac, Astobamba & Warawtampu Day Trip

At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Cerro de Pasco and head to the Chaupihuaranga Valley. From the village of Rocco, we'll embark on a 1-hour 30-minute walk to the Goñicutac Archaeological Complex, the ancient settlement of the Yaros, who inhabited the area during the 13th century.

During the visit, we will explore streets, small squares, and passages, and learn about the history of the sacred complex and its hydraulic systems. Additionally, we'll visit the Temple of the Moon, where sacrifices were made in honor of this celestial body.

Next, we'll go to Yanahuanca for free time to have lunch. Our journey continues through various archaeological sites in the valley.

Just 3 miles from Yanahuanca, we will find the archaeological sites of Astobamba and Warawtampu. A bridge built by the Incas connects these two sites. We'll visit Astobamba to see pre-Inca constructions by the Wari civilization. Then, we will visit Warawtampu and explore several Inca buildings, including the Incawasi (Palace of the Inca) and the Baño del Inca water fountain, along with scenic staggered waterfalls spanning almost 2 miles (3 kilometers).

After a full day, we will return to Cerro de Pasco and drop you back at your accommodation around 6 pm.
