Goñicutac, Astobamba & Warawtampu Day Trip

At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Cerro de Pasco and head to the Chaupihuaranga Valley. In the village of Rocco, we'll commence a 1-hour 30-minute walk to the Goñicutac Archaeological Complex, an ancient settlement of the Yaros, who inhabited the area in the 13th century and controlled Pasco and Huánuco until the Incas arrived.

We will explore its streets, small squares, and passages while learning about the site's history and hydraulic systems ensuring water supply. A visit to the Temple of the Moon, where sacrifices were made, is included. Following this, we'll head to Yanahuanca for lunch break before continuing to the archaeological sites.

Located 3 miles away are the archaeological sites of Astobamba and Warawtampu, connected by an Inca bridge that forms part of the Inca Trail from Cusco. We will see Astobamba's pre-Inca constructions from the Wari civilization, known as "City of Punishment" in Quechua. We will then visit Warawtampu, including the Incawasi or Palace of the Inca, and the Baño del Inca water fountain, alongside stunning staggered waterfalls spanning almost 2 miles (3 kilometers).

After a fulfilling day, we will return to Cerro de Pasco and drop you back at your accommodation around 6 pm.
