Goñicutac, Astobamba & Warawtampu Day Trip
At 7 am, pick-up from your accommodation in Cerro de Pasco takes place, followed by a journey to the Chaupihuaranga Valley. Upon arrival at the village of Rocco, a 1-hour 30-minute walk leads to the Goñicutac Archaeological Complex, which was inhabited by the Yaros community during the 13th century.
Explore the complex's streets, squares, and hydraulic systems, and visit the Temple of the Moon, where sacrifices were offered. Following this, guests will have free time for lunch in Yanahuanca before proceeding to additional archaeological sites.
Located 3 miles from Yanahuanca, the archaeological sites of Astobamba and Warawtampu will be visited. The Inca-built bridge connects these two sites, part of the Inca Trail leading from Cusco. At Astobamba, see pre-Inca constructions associated with the Wari civilization.
Proceed to Warawtampu to explore Inca period buildings, including the Incawasi (Palace of the Inca) and the Baño del Inca water fountain. Visitors can also admire the staggered waterfalls extending for nearly 2 miles (3 kilometers).
After a full day, return to Cerro de Pasco, with drop-off at your accommodation around 6 pm.
