Your tour starts with a pickup at 9 am from your accommodation. The Meseta de Bombón is a high plain in central Peru, east of the Andes, home to colonial villages and protected areas including the Junín National Reserve, covering 53,000 hectares. The journey will include a stop in the colonial village of Vicco to visit its 17th-century church.
In the reserve, you will see Lake Junín, noted for its biodiversity, including 36 species of birds such as flamingos, Puna ibis, Andean goose, and endangered grebes. You'll also visit San Pedro de Pari, situated by the lake, to see its ancient colonial and Andean-style church.
Continuing to San Juan de Ondores and then to the town of Junín, you will visit the Museum of Natural History and have time to explore the main square, the church of San Ignacio de Loyola, the train station, and several chapels, followed by free time for lunch.
Post-lunch, the tour will head to the historical sanctuary of Chacamarca, a significant site in Peruvian history. Then, visit the village of Huayre, known for its maca production. The return to Cerro de Pasco includes a stop at the church of San Pedro de Ninacaca before arriving back at approximately 7 pm.
