Meseta de Bombón Tour
You'll be picked up at 9 am from your accommodation to start the Meseta de Bombón tour, located in the central highlands of Peru, east of the Andes. This region features colonial villages and protected areas such as the Junín National Reserve, which spans 53,000 hectares. The first stop is in the colonial village of Vicco to visit its 17th-century church.
Upon entering the reserve, you'll visit Lake Junín, known for its biodiversity and home to 36 species of birds, including flamingos, Puna ibis, Andean goose, and endangered grebes. You'll also see the village of San Pedro de Pari, where you can admire its colonial and Andean-style church, among the oldest in South America.
The tour continues through San Juan de Ondores and Junín, where you will visit the Museum of Natural History and explore the main square, church of San Ignacio de Loyola, train station, and several chapels. After this, you'll have free time for lunch.
Post-lunch, the itinerary includes a visit to the historical sanctuary of Chacamarca to learn about its significance in Peruvian history. Next, you'll stop in Huayre, the capital of maca, before making a brief stop at the church of San Pedro de Ninacaca, known for its original roof.
The tour concludes as you return to Cerro de Pasco, where you'll be dropped off at your accommodation around 7 pm.
