On this guided tour of Chinatown, you'll explore the atmosphere of Singapore's Chinatown, the oldest part of the city, and taste some local cuisine.
Description
At the specified time, we will meet at exit A of the MRT station at Raffles Place to start this walking tour around Chinatown. First, we will ascend to the Sky Garden in CapitaSpring, the second tallest building in Singapore, offering impressive city views.
Next, we will proceed to the Temple of Yueh Hai Ching, established in 1819, where you can admire its carvings and learn about the beliefs and rituals of the first Chinese immigrants.
Our route will take us to Pekin Street, passing the patio of an old Chinese boys school and the Fuk Tak Chi Museum, which formerly served as a temple for the God of Prosperity.
We will visit Thian Hock Keng, the most important Hokkien temple in the country, built with materials from China. Sailors historically came here to thank the Goddess of the sea. You'll see a relic of Buddha's tooth and a gift from the Qing emperor.
After lunch at one of Singapore's oldest noodle houses, we will explore the traditional trades of Chinatown, including a tea shop, a pastry shop, and an ointment store, while viewing murals by the artist Yip Yew Chong.
The guided tour of Chinatown will conclude after a total of 3.5 hours of sightseeing.
