Next, we'll visit the Temple of Yueh Hai Ching, the oldest Chinese sanctuary in Singapore, established in 1819. Here, you can admire its carvings and mask and learn about the beliefs and rituals of the first Chinese immigrants.
We will continue to Pekin Street, where we will see the patio of an old Chinese boys' school and pass by the Fuk Tak Chi Museum, which was a temple dedicated to the God of Prosperity.
Then, we will visit Thian Hock Keng, the most important Hokkien temple in the country, built with materials from China. Sailors once came here to thank the Goddess of the sea. You will also view a relic of Buddha's tooth and a gift from the Qing emperor.
After lunch at one of Singapore's oldest noodle houses, we will explore the traditional trades of Chinatown, visiting a tea shop, a pastry shop, and an ointment store. You will see murals by artist Yip Yew Chong, depicting daily life in the past.
