National Palace of Sintra & Gardens
Explore the Spanish-Mudejar and Manueline-styled rooms in the residence of the Portuguese medieval queens with this admission ticket to the National Palace of Sintra and its gardens.
National Palace of Sintra & Gardens
This ticket allows access to the National Palace of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. The palace's origins date back to the 10th century, initially serving as a residence for Arab governors. By the 13th century, it was noted for use by Denis I of Portugal, who gifted it to his wife, Queen Saint Elizabeth of Portugal. The palace has been the residence of Portuguese monarchs since then.
The Lisbon earthquake of 1755 damaged parts of the palace, which were later rebuilt to reflect its 16th-century appearance. Visitors can explore the Spanish-Mudejar style rooms, the Hall of the Coats of Arms, the Hall of the Arabs, the Hall of the Swans, and the royal kitchens. The gardens have also been restored by Parques de Sintra, and the complex has been part of the European Network of Royal Residences since 2013.
Opening Times
The National Palace of Sintra is open Monday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, with potential changes to these hours. On December 31, the palace will close at 1 pm.
Children Under 6
No ticket is required for children under 6 years old, but it is necessary to visit the ticket office at the National Palace of Sintra to collect their tickets.
