Sail through the Atlantic Ocean in search of beautiful marine wildlife on our Ólafsvík Whale Watching experience. You'll visit one of the best places in Iceland for dolphin and whale watching on this unforgettable activity.
Ólafsvík Whale Watching
At your chosen time, we'll meet on Norðurtangi Street at the Ólafsvík port. From there, we'll board a boat for dolphin and whale watching around Iceland's coast.
We'll skirt the coastline of the Snæfellsnes peninsula and admire the scenery. You'll see the Snæfellsjökull volcano, with its height of 4,700 feet (1,450 meters), and the glaciers that cover it.
Once we are away from the coast, we may see various whale species depending on the season. Some whales in these waters include humpback, pilot, minke, sperm whales, and killer whales.
We'll observe these animals closely and, if fortunate, hear their songs and vocalizations. We may also see dolphin families. While observing, we will provide interesting facts about these animals.
During the trip, you'll have the opportunity to take pictures of Skarðsvík's golden sandy beaches, the city of Keflavík, and the Svörtuloft and Öndverðarnes lighthouses.
After 2 to 4 hours of adventure, we'll return to the starting point to conclude the activity.
Whale Watching
Ólafsvík is a strategic location for whale watching. However, animals are unpredictable. The number of whales visible will depend on factors like sea currents, winds, and weather conditions. Arctic weather can change quickly, influencing animal behavior.
The tour duration may vary based on weather and the time needed to locate whales. The activity is conducted with respect for their natural habitat.
