Communist Sofia Tour
After meeting at 4 pm in front of the Court House in Sofia city centre, we will begin our walking tour of Bulgaria's communist past.
Starting from the end of the Second World War, our expert English-speaking guide will discuss the birth and evolution of the Bulgarian Communist Party and the roles of Stalin and Churchill.
As we explore Sofia, we will admire key buildings from the Communist era while learning about the secret police and state control tactics. The guide will explain life under Communism in Bulgaria, including the health system, gender equality, and the lasting impact on residents today.
We will stop at the old Royal Palace, now the National Art Gallery, before proceeding to the Monument to the Soviet Army, a site of protests and political messages.
The tour will conclude around 7 pm in front of the monument dedicated to victims of Communism.
