Communist Sofia Tour
After meeting up at 4 pm in front of the Court House in the heart of Sofia city centre, we'll begin our walking tour of the Bulgarian capital's communist past.
First, we'll go back to the end of the Second World War. Our expert English-speaking guide will cover the birth and evolution of the Bulgarian Communist Party and the roles of historic figures such as Stalin and Churchill.
While walking around Sofia, we'll learn about significant buildings from the Communist era, the secret police, and the state's control methods. The guide will explain what life was like under Communism, including the health system, gender equality, and the historical period's ongoing impact on residents today.
We'll stop at the old Royal Palace, now housing the National Art Gallery, before visiting the Monument to the Soviet Army, a site of protest and political messages.
Our tour will conclude around 7 pm in front of the monument dedicated to victims of Communism.
