- 11 Stunden
Join us on a trip to Rila Monastery and Seven Lakes to explore landscapes in Bulgaria and its significant medieval monument.
Description
We'll meet at the indicated time at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Square and depart to Rila National Park. We'll reach the resort town of Panichishte and take a cable car to the mountain summit.
At over 6,500 feet above sea level, we'll embark on a 5-hour hike to the Seven Lakes, the park's main attraction. Our guide will provide insights into the environment while leading you to the impressive lakes.
After visiting the lakes, we will proceed to the medieval Rila Monastery, a key architectural treasure in Bulgaria. As you explore its 65 feet high walls, you'll learn about its history and significant facts. The monastery served as a bastion of Bulgarian cultural identity during the Ottoman occupation. You can also discover the tomb of Boris III, the last Bulgarian king.
At the conclusion of the visit, we will return to Sofia, dropping you off at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Square.
