Join us on a trip to Rila Monastery and Seven Lakes to explore beautiful landscapes and a significant medieval monument in Bulgaria.
Description
We'll meet at the indicated time at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Square and depart for Rila National Park. Our first stop will be the resort town of Panichishte, where we'll take a cable car to the mountain summit.
At over 6,500 feet, we will enjoy a 5-hour hike to the Seven Lakes, the park's main attraction. Our guide will share insights about the environment while taking you to each impressive lake on the route.
After visiting the lakes, we will proceed to the medieval Rila Monastery, a significant architectural site in Bulgaria. While you explore its 65-foot walls, you will learn about its rich history and important facts.
The monastery is a key symbol of Bulgarian cultural identity during the Ottoman occupation. You will have the opportunity to explore its surroundings and discover historical sites, including the tomb of Boris III, the last Bulgarian king.
After the visit, we will return to Sofia and drop you off at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Square.
