Rose Valley Tour + Buzludzha Monument

We will meet at the designated time behind the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and depart for the renowned Rose Valley. Rose cultivation in Bulgaria dates back to the 16th century, and the country became a global leader in rose oil production. We will visit the Damascena Ethnographic Complex to understand why this region excels in growing roses for oil extraction.

Our next stop is the town of Kazanlak, known for its annual Rose Festival held during May and June. After some time to explore the town, we will have a break for lunch.

Following lunch, we'll visit the Buzludzha Monument, a UFO-shaped structure located in the Central Balkan Mountains, built by the Bulgarian communist regime. This monument is popular on social media, attracting artists such as Rita Ora for music video shoots.

Before heading back, we will make a stop in Shipka to see the Memorial Church, honoring soldiers from the war between Russia and Turkey. We will return to Sofia, concluding the tour after approximately 10.5 hours.
