Skopje Day Trip

An ancient fortress, historic churches and majestic mosques: spend a day exploring the most important places of interest in Skopje, the political, cultural and economic capital of North Macedonia.

Skopje Day Trip Itinerary

Pick up from your hotel in Sofia is scheduled for 8 am, followed by a three and a half hour drive to Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

Begin your exploration at Kale Fortress, dating back to the 6th century, which offers views over Skopje from its hilltop location.

Next, visit the Church of the Holy Salvation, also known as the Church of the Ascension of Jesus, and the nearby Sultan Murat Mosque. Proceed to the Old Bazaar, reflecting Skopje's Ottoman heritage since the 12th century.

You will have a break for lunch at a local restaurant (not included) before continuing to the newer part of Skopje. Here, visit the Neo-Classical style square and the Memorial House of Mother Teresa.

Before returning to the bus, admire Porta Macedonia, a triumphal arch commemorating the country's 20 year anniversary of independence.

Return to Sofia at approximately 7 pm.

Please remember to bring your valid passport on this tour, which must have at least six months of validity for crossing the border between Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
