Skopje Day Trip Itinerary
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Sofia at 8 am, leaving Bulgaria for North Macedonia. After approximately a three and a half hour drive, you'll arrive in Skopje, the capital and largest city.
Explore this historic city, uncovering its hidden beauty and ancient heritage along with its role as the political, cultural and economic centre of North Macedonia. The first stop will be Kale Fortress, dating back to the 6th century, which offers views over Skopje from its hilltop.
Next, visit the Church of the Holy Salvation, also known as the Church of the Ascension of Jesus, contrasting with the nearby Sultan Murat Mosque. Close by, enter the Old Bazaar, a testament to Skopje's Ottoman heritage dating back to the 12th century.
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant (not included), then cross the Vardar River to the newer area of Skopje. Discover the Neo-Classical style square and the Memorial House of Mother Teresa, born in Skopje.
Before returning to the bus, admire the triumphal arch Porta Macedonia, commemorating the country's 20-year independence anniversary.
You will return to Sofia at around 7 pm.
