Veliko Tarnovo & Arbanasi Day Trip

Veliko Tarnovo is one of the most important medieval cities in Bulgaria. Discover its beautiful architecture during our trip from Sofia, which includes a visit to the historical village of Arbanasi.

Day Trip Details

We will collect you from your hotel in Sofia early in the morning. The journey to Veliko Tarnovo takes almost three hours, stopping first at the medieval village of Arbanasi, known for its historical churches and monuments.

We will visit the Church of the Nativity of Christ to view its interior frescoes, representing the typical architectural style of late Middle Ages religious structures in Bulgaria.

After approximately an hour and a half in Arbanasi, we will continue to the city of Veliko Tarnovo, regarded as the medieval capital of Bulgaria. Upon arrival, there will be a break at a traditional restaurant for local food (not included).

Afterwards, we will embark on a two-hour tour to explore important landmarks. Veliko Tarnovo, known as the 'City of Medieval Tsars', features a 12th-century fortress on Tsarevets hill, home to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Ascension of God.

Highlights include Baldwin's Tower and Execution Rock, along with historic houses and government buildings.

We will return to Sofia around 6 pm.
