In this snowshoeing tour through Valle de Lago, we will explore the winter landscapes of southern Asturias.

Snowshoeing Tour in the Valle de Lago

We will begin our winter hiking route by meeting at the Valle de Lago car park. Located at an altitude of 1280 metres (4199 feet) in the Asturian council of Somiedo, a mountain guide will brief participants on safe walking in icy conditions.

After the briefing, we will equip ourselves with snowshoes and start our hike up the valley, observing the winter scenery and the typical huts, known as "teitos," of the Asturian mountains. The ascent takes about two hours and will bring us to an altitude of 1558 metres (5111 feet), where we will reach the Lake of the Valley, the largest natural lake in Asturias, covered in snow and ice.

We will take a break here to appreciate the scenery and enjoy the snack you have brought. Afterwards, we will head to the 'Cobrana Teito' for panoramic views of the lake.

In case of bad weather, we will return by the same route. If conditions are favorable, we will take the forest path to enjoy the snowy beech forests and the biodiversity of the Somiedo council.

After a five-hour excursion, we will return to the Valle de Lago car park.
