Step back in time with this trip to Charles Town from Kingston, where you’ll learn about the history and culture of this Maroon community.
Day Trip to Charles Town
Pick-up from your hotel starts at 10 am, followed by a departure from Kingston towards the north of the island.
After an hour and a half, we’ll reach Charles Town, home to one of Jamaica’s largest Maroon communities. Here, we’ll visit the Maroon Museum, where you'll discover the history of this community and their fight for freedom.
The Maroons originally were brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century and were instrumental in the fight for Jamaican independence. They now identify as independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
During the visit, you’ll witness locals performing traditional songs and dances, providing an authentic experience.
Next, we’ll proceed to Buff Bay River for a refreshing dip, followed by a visit to a nearby restaurant for a taste of local cuisine (lunch not included).
After lunch, we’ll return to Kingston, with a drop-off at your hotel around 3 pm.
