Day Trip to a Maroon Town
At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Runaway Bay and travel for approximately two hours until reaching Charles Town.
This town is home to one of the country's Maroon communities. Upon arrival, we'll visit the Charles Town Maroon Museum to explore the history of this community and their struggle for freedom.
The Maroons are descendants of people who were originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century, declaring themselves independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
After this historical insight, you’ll experience traditional music and dances. Join in and have fun!
Next, we will go to the Buff Bay River for a refreshing dip, followed by a visit to a local restaurant to enjoy delicious local cuisine (lunch not included).
After lunch, we'll return to Runaway Bay, concluding the tour at your hotel around 3 pm.
