Explore a maroon town to truly understand the history of Jamaica. This day trip from Ocho Ríos provides insight into the lifestyle, culture, and origins of the Jamaican Maroon community.

Maroon Town Day Trip

At 10 am, pickup will be from your hotel in Ocho Ríos as we head east towards Charles Town.

After a scenic hour and a half journey, we will reach Charles Town, our first stop being the Charles Town Maroon Museum, where the history of the Jamaican Maroons will be revealed.

The Maroons were brought from Africa as slaves and rebelled against the British colonisers. Throughout the day, you will learn about their history and various significant facts.

An important element of this community's culture is music. During this day trip, you will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional dancing.

After dancing, we will proceed to the Buff Bay River to cool off with a dip in the water.

Before returning to Ocho Ríos, we will visit a local restaurant for a traditional lunch (not included). The trip back to your hotel will conclude around 3 pm.
