Travel in time to discover St Augustine, one of the oldest European and African-American settlements in the United States, in a golf cart!
Description
The tour begins in Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll hop on board a golf cart ready to take you on a historical journey through St. Augustine. For an hour and 15 minutes, you'll be transported through the old-style streets of St. Augustine, discovering important sites such as the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerto de Matanzas, and the Puente de los Leónes. The most noteworthy is the Castillo de San Marcos, now a national park originally built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
Further north, a mile from the Castillo, is the Misión Nombre de Dios, built in 1565. Continuing another mile is the archeological park of the Fountain of Youth, where explorer Ponce de Leon is believed to have first landed in the Americas. St. Augustine offers gripping legends about its past.
Along the ride, you'll see notable hotels like the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica, showcasing various architectural styles from colonial Spanish to British. The tour culminates at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, featuring a mix of Italian, Spanish, Arabesque, and Baroque architecture, before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
