Kalinago Culture Tour

If you want to learn about Dominica's history and indigenous groups, our tour of the Kalinago culture, designed specifically for cruise ships, is perfect! You'll step off your cruise ship and immerse yourself in a cultural experience.

Tour Details

At your chosen time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point in Roseau. After everyone's arrival, we'll board the minibus and head to the northeast of Dominica, where the Kalinago Territory is located.

After a 1-hour drive, we'll arrive at the Kalinago Territory, home to around 3,000 indigenous Kalinago people. Throughout the day, we'll meet members of the Kalinago community and learn about their culture, history, and way of life.

Our first stop will be a bakery to learn how the Kalinago bake traditional bread. Next, we'll visit a pottery workshop to learn about their historic pottery techniques, with purchasing options available. We’ll also explore a basket-making workshop and discover this unique art form.

We'll have the opportunity to see a live performance of traditional Kalinago dances, showcasing their vigor and enthusiasm.

After this cultural experience, we'll return to Roseau, arriving at the starting points 7 hours after our excursion began.
