On this excursion to the Itaipu dam and the Tatí Yupí Refuge, we'll discover these two landmarks of Alto Paraná in eastern Paraguay.
Description
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up at the Shopping del Este shopping centre. From this point in Ciudad del Este, we'll travel to Hernandarias, an important municipality in Alto Paraná known for its Guaraní heritage.
We will first visit the Museo de la Tierra Guaraní, featuring the largest anthropological and biological collection in Alto Paraná, which highlights the culture of the region's native communities and their main customs and traditions.
Next, we will head to Itaipu Dam, located on the border between Paraguay and Brazil, where we'll learn about renewable energy production and environmental sustainability.
After a break at a local restaurant for lunch, we’ll proceed to the Tatí Yupí Biological Refuge on the banks of the Paraná River. Here, we will explore native flora including cedars, pink trumpet trees, and guatambús.
The reserve covers more than 75,000 hectares of forests and wetlands, providing protection to many species, including those in danger of extinction, such as the Tinamus and other South American birds.
We will return to the meeting point in Ciudad del Este, expected 3 to 4 hours after pickup.
