La Petite France on Grande Île is one of Strasbourg’s picturesque areas. Join us on a free walking tour to see the must-see landmarks and learn about the history of this French enclave.
La Petite France Free Tour
At the scheduled time, we will meet in front of the cathedral and start a free tour of one of the charming districts in Strasbourg. We will begin by walking down the busy main street, or “Grand'Rue”.
Next, we will cross the historic Ill River via the Saint Martin bridge, where we will have a view of the waterlock and the traditional district, the oldest part of Strasbourg. We will discuss the history of the area and the architecture of the classic half-timbered townhouses.
Our next stop will be at Benjamin Zix square, where we will enjoy the ambiance of local cafés along the canal. Then we will visit Bruche quay with its romantic terraces, a highlight of the tour.
Finally, we will proceed to the Ponts Couverts, which offers views of the Barrage Vauban and former city fortifications. The tour will conclude after a total of an hour and 15 minutes of sightseeing.
