Shakespeare's Birthplace
The William Shakespeare house has been converted into a sanctuary for lovers of the legendary writer. The largest house on Henley Street offers insight into his childhood, teenage years, and early marriage to Anne Hathaway. The gardens welcome visitors to the 16th-century house, which retains its original wooden beams, showcasing the Elizabethan style.
During the tour, you will pass through the rooms where he wrote some of the most famous literary works and discover the places where he ate, slept, and played. This location has attracted many writers, including Charles Dickens, John Keats, Walter Scott, and Thomas Hardy.
“Famous Beyond Words” Exhibition
Since 2016, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth, the house hosts the "Famous Beyond Words" exhibition, which showcases the life of Shakespeare and his major works.
