Maragua Crater Hike
At 8:30 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Sucre and head towards Chataquila. Our first stop will be at the chapel where Tomás Katari died. From there, we will embark on a 2-hour hike along the Inca Trail of Chataquila, observing the scenery and learning about the medicinal plants like muña and wira wira.
Next, we'll reach the village of Chaunaca, then take a bus to the Maragua Crater, where we will explore this ancient formation and learn about local agriculture and textile production. Following this, we will enjoy a picnic lunch.
After lunch, we will begin our return to Sucre, stopping at a viewpoint to take in the panoramic view of the countryside. We expect to arrive back at your hotel by 3:30 pm.
Visiting the Niñu Mayu Dinosaur Footprints
For additional exploration, you can book the option including a visit to the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints. After lunch and the viewpoint visit, we will head to this site, one of the seven wonders of Chataquila, for another 2-hour hike to see actual dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous period. We will return to Sucre, arriving at your hotel by 5:30 pm.
