Spend the day in touch with nature and Bolivian rural traditions on our hike around the Maragua Crater. You'll also be able to visit the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints on this unforgettable excursion.

Maragua Crater Hike

At 8:30 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Sucre and depart towards the village of Chataquila. Our first stop will be at the chapel where Tomás Katari died. We will then embark on a 2-hour hike along the Inca Trail of Chataquila, observing the scenery and learning about local plants with medicinal properties.

Next, we will reach the village of Chaunaca and take a bus to the Maragua Crater. Here, we will explore the ancient site and learn about the local community's agricultural and textile production. A picnic lunch will follow.

After lunch, we will return to Sucre, stopping at a viewpoint for a panoramic view of the Bolivian countryside, aiming to arrive back at your hotel by 3:30 pm.

Visiting the Niñu Mayu Dinosaur Footprints

Optionally, you can book a visit to the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints. After lunch and the viewpoint, we will visit this site, known as one of the seven wonders of Chataquila. This includes another 2-hour hike to see real dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous period. We will then return to Sucre, with drop-off at your hotel by 5:30 pm.
