Spend the day in touch with nature and Bolivian rural traditions on our hike around the Maragua Crater. You'll also be able to visit the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints on this excursion.

Maragua Crater Hike

At 8:30 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Sucre and leave for the village of Chataquila, where we will visit the chapel linked to Tomás Katari, leader of Indigenous Peoples' guerillas.

A 2-hour hike along the Inca Trail of Chataquila follows, where we will observe the scenery and medicinal plants like muña and wira wira.

We will proceed to the village of Chaunaca and then take a bus to the Maragua Crater, enjoying fresh air in this ancient geological formation.

We will visit local houses to learn about their agriculture and textile production and will have a picnic lunch before returning to Sucre. A stop at a viewpoint for a panoramic view of the Bolivian countryside is included, with an arrival back at your hotel by 3:30 pm.

Visiting the Niñu Mayu Dinosaur Footprints

Optionally, you can add a visit to the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints. After lunch and the viewpoint stop, we will hike for 2 hours to see the dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous period. We will return to Sucre and drop you off at your hotel by 5:30 pm.
