Available Day Trip Options

During the booking process, you will have the choice between the two itineraries outlined below. Both options encompass hotel pick-up and drop-off, minibus transport, and a knowledgeable English-speaking guide. Explore the specifics of each itinerary below:

Half-Day Itinerary

At your designated time, we will collect you from your hotel in Sucre and journey to the Quechua village of Tarabuco. En route, enjoy the striking views of the Bolivian plains.

Did you know that Tarabuco is renowned in Bolivia for its traditional market? Every Sunday, numerous families from the Yampara Indigenous community, which traces its roots to the Quechua, gather here to showcase their offerings.

In addition to the vibrant traditional attire worn by the Yampara, the art of bartering still thrives in this market. We will explore this age-old practice and many other cultural aspects throughout our visit.

As we wander through the market, we will peruse shops featuring food, textiles, and handicrafts while delving into the rich heritage of the Yampara civilization.

After spending 4 hours in Tarabuco, we will head back to Sucre.

Full-Day Itinerary

If you wish to extend your stay in Tarabuco, you can opt for the full-day tour. Following your pick-up from your hotel in Sucre, we’ll embark on a scenic 1-hour and 30-minute drive to Tarabuco.

You will arrive at the Tarabuco Market, attracting visitors from the Yampara Indigenous community. Prepare to be amazed by one of the most vibrant marketplaces in the world! During our visit, witness how Yampara families, adorned in their traditional garments, convene here every Sunday.

Here, they buy, sell, and trade an array of local goods and crafts. After browsing the stalls, we will take a break at a local eatery for rejuvenation. A satisfying lunch awaits, featuring a starter, main dish, and dessert.

This 6-hour adventure will conclude as we return to Sucre. We look forward to seeing you again!
