Take a tour through the desert of Sonora along the Apache Trail, an ancient Indian pathway and historic stagecoach route. Visit the ghost towns of Goldfield and Tortilla Flat, and learn about the legend of hidden treasure in the Superstition Mountains.
Apache Trail Tour
The tour begins with a pickup from the meeting point in Phoenix, followed by a journey along the Apache Trail. The first stop is at the Superstition Mountains, where you will hear the legend of the hidden treasure in the area.
Continuing along the route, which has guided Indians and served as a stagecoach track for frontiersmen, we will visit the ghost town of Goldfield, preserved to reflect its historical state. Here, you can try panning for gold using traditional methods.
Next, we head to Canyon Lake to board the Dolly Steamboat. The vessel will cruise for 6 miles along the lake, providing opportunities to see bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and other desert wildlife.
The tour concludes with a visit to Tortilla Flat, the last remaining stagecoach stop on the Apache Trail, which maintains its original architecture and frontier traditions. After the tour, we will return to Phoenix.
