Take a tour through the desert of Sonora along the Apache Trail, a historic stagecoach route that was once an ancient Indian pathway. Visit the ghost towns of Goldfield and Tortilla Flat, and learn about the legend of hidden treasure in the Superstition Mountains.
Apache Trail Tour
The tour starts with a pick-up from a designated meeting point in Phoenix. We will travel along the Apache Trail, recognized as the oldest route through Arizona. The first stop is the Superstition Mountains, where you will learn about the legend of the hidden treasure in the area.
Continuing along the route, we will visit the ghost town of Goldfield, preserved to reflect its historical state from over a century ago. Participants will have the opportunity to pan for gold using traditional methods.
Next, we will proceed to Canyon Lake, where we will board the Dolly Steamboat. The vessel will cruise for 6 miles, allowing observations of bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and other desert wildlife along the lake's shores.
The tour concludes with a visit to Tortilla Flat, the last remaining stagecoach stop on the Apache Trail, known for its original architecture and frontier traditions. We will then return to Phoenix, marking the end of the tour.
