On this hiking route through Fúquene we'll discover the natural, heritage and cultural jewels of one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Ubaté.
Fúquene Hiking Tour
We'll meet at 9 am at the petrol station El Portal De Simijaca. The hiking route through Fúquene will mix history and nature.
Our first stop will be a traditional handicraft workshop to observe the creation of reed baskets, a craft rooted in pre-Columbian culture using materials found at the lagoon's shores.
Then, we will proceed to the ancient village of Fúquene, where native plants such as alders, ciros, curubos, morus, and dandelions can be observed. Located at an altitude of over 1700 metres (5577 feet), we will learn about the Muisca, also known as Chibcha, and the life of Teresa de Verdugo, the town's founder.
We'll visit the parish church, a colonial structure with an altar inlaid with emeralds. Following this, you will have an hour of free time for lunch.
Once refreshed, we will head back to our starting point in Fúquene, concluding the tour at 5 pm.
