Fúquene Hiking Tour

This hiking route through Fúquene allows us to explore the natural, heritage, and cultural treasures of this beautiful village in the Ubaté province.

The tour starts at 9 am at the petrol station El Portal De Simijaca, offering a mix of history and nature. We'll begin by visiting a traditional handicraft workshop to witness the making of reed baskets, an art originating from pre-Columbian tribes.

Next, we'll proceed to the ancient village of Fúquene, surrounded by native plants like alders, ciros, curubos, morus, and dandelions. At an altitude of over 1700 meters (5577 feet), the village holds stories of the Muisca, also known as the Chibcha, an indigenous people, and the life of Teresa de Verdugo, the town's founder.

Our itinerary includes a visit to the parish church, a colonial building with an emerald-inlaid altar. Afterward, there will be an hour of free time for lunch before our return to the starting point in Fúquene, with the tour scheduled to end by 5 pm.
