Fúquene Hiking Tour

  • 8 Stunden

On this hiking route through Fúquene, we will discover the natural and cultural heritage of one of the most beautiful villages in Ubaté.

Fúquene Hiking Tour

We will meet at 9 am at the petrol station El Portal De Simijaca. The tour includes a hiking route through Fúquene that combines history and nature.

We will first visit a traditional handicraft workshop to observe the production of reed baskets, made from materials that grow along the lagoon's shores, rooted in pre-Columbian traditions.

Next, we will proceed to the ancient village of Fúquene, observing native plants such as alders, ciros, curubos, morus, and dandelions along the way. The village, situated at over 1700 meters (5577 feet) in altitude, is rich in stories about the Muisca, also known as the Chibcha, including tales of Teresa de Verdugo, the town's founder.

Additionally, we will visit the parish church, a colonial structure featuring an altar inlaid with emeralds. Following this, there will be an hour of free time for lunch.

After lunch, we will return to the starting point in Fúquene, with the tour concluding at 5 pm.
