Helicopter Ride over Skaftafell (30 minutes)
Meet at Öræfi 785 at the designated time to set off on a 30-minute helicopter ride over Skaftafell. The pilot will provide insights into the route before the flight begins.
Experience views of Skaftafell National Park, home to Iceland's glaciers and volcanoes. Witness the Öræfajökull crater and soar over Mount Hvannadalshnjúkur, standing at 2110 meters (6,922 feet)—the highest peak in Iceland.
After the helicopter flight, we will return to the meeting point.
Helicopter Ride over Lakagigar (75 minutes)
Opt for a longer adventure with a 75-minute helicopter ride over Vatnajökull National Park, specifically the Laki or Lakagigar crater chain. Gain a unique perspective of Iceland's largest volcanic crater chain during the journey.
Soar over the ice cap of Skeiðarárjökull, one of Vatnajökull's outlet glaciers—the largest glacier in Europe. Approaching Lakagigar, witness a row of volcanic craters resulting from one of history's largest eruptions.
On the return journey, fly over the Súlutindar peaks, showcasing glacier-carved formations, and continue southeast along the rim of Skeiðarárjökull, providing a panoramic view. After 75 minutes of exploration, return to the Skaftafell terminal, concluding the helicopter ride over Lakagigar.
