Vatnajökull Glacier & Blue Ice Cave Hike

At 9 am we'll meet at Glacier Adventure Base Camp, hop in a jeep and head to the Vatnajökull glacier in the Skaftafell National Park.

After a 30 minute drive, we will get kitted out with helmets, harnesses, ice axes and crampons and set off on a hike on Vatnajökull, one of Europe's largest glaciers.

Unless you are already an expert ice-walker, this activity will involve walking on uneven terrain and observing unusual rock formations and moulins that indicate the glacier's constant change.

In 45 to 90 minutes, depending on our pace, we will reach the Blue Ice Cave located under the glacier. The lack of air gives it an intense blue colour.

We will explore the interior of this cave, unveiling its hidden secrets.

After exploring, we will return to the meeting point in our jeeps, arriving at approximately 4 pm.
