Upon booking, you can choose between the 3-hour or 5-hour hiking options:

3-Hour Route

We will begin our adventure in Skaftafell, where our guide will provide all the necessary gear to ensure a safe glacier hike. After receiving your helmet, harnesses, ice axes, and crampons, we will board a bus that will take us near the Vatnajökull glacier.

Upon arrival, you will be captivated by the beauty of the glacier, situated within the largest national park in Europe, recognized as one of the most stunning natural settings. This area has been featured in numerous films and series, including James Bond, Tomb Raider, Batman, and Game of Thrones.

We will trek for around 60 to 90 minutes, exploring various formations such as cracks in the ice, vertical wells, and ice tunnels (visible only in winter), making for an unforgettable experience in the heart of Icelandic nature.

Finally, we will return to our starting point, cherishing the unique sensation of walking over a glacier.

5-Hour Route

This itinerary mirrors that of the 3-hour route, with the addition of more time dedicated to the trekking activity. This option is ideal for the more adventurous and physically conditioned participants.

The hikes are categorized as medium difficulty hikes on uneven terrain and are not recommended for individuals with heart conditions.The 3-hour option involves approximately 1 hour of hiking on the ice.The 5-hour option features a 3-hour glacier hike, presenting a more extended and challenging experience compared to the 3-hour route.For winter hikes, it is essential to wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear for snow and ice. In summer, a rain jacket is recommended. We provide all necessary technical equipment (helmet, crampons, and torch), but participants must always wear hiking boots. Hiking boots can be rented on-site for 25 EUR.
