Cape Cross Seal Reserve Day Trip
Pick-up will be from your accommodation in Swakopmund at the agreed time to begin the trip to the Cape Cross Seal Colony.
On the way, there will be stops to admire Namibian scenery and at Henties Bay in Wlotzka’s Baken, a small holiday settlement.
The journey continues to Cape Cross, named for the stone cross established by explorer Diego Cao in 1486 in honor of King John I of Portugal.
At Cape Cross, a delicious lunch featuring typical Namibian dishes such as fat cookies, etitis, chicken, and mopane worms will be served.
After lunch, the trip will proceed to the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, home to over 200,000 seals. Visitors can walk on a wooden walkway for an up-close view of these animals.
This area hosts one of the world's largest colonies of Cape fur seals, where you can observe their behaviors, including sleeping and playing. In November and December, seal pups may also be seen.
Bringing a scarf or shawl is advisable to manage the smell near the seals.
The tour concludes with a return to Swakopmund, with drop-off at your hotel around 5 pm.
