Join us for an unforgettable day trip to Spitzkoppe, where you will witness one of Africa's most remarkable rock formations and explore ancient paintings!
Spitzkoppe Day Trip
At the scheduled time, pickup will be arranged from your hotel in Swakopmund as we embark on an adventure to a 700 million-year-old rock formation.
Before we enter the desert, we will make a brief stop in Swakopmund to visit the Martin Luther locomotive, a historic train over 100 years old, marking the first form of mechanical transport in Namibia. Your guide will share insights about the train’s significance, as well as the history of the city and Namibia overall.
Afterward, we'll journey through the Namib Desert and admire the stunning landscape where the reddish hues of the mountains meet the golden sands of the desert. Soon, we will arrive at the magnificent Spitzkoppe Mountain, towering at 1,728 meters above sea level and often referred to as the Matterhorn of Namibia. These granite formations were once a shelter for the Bushmen or San people, who left behind intriguing paintings.
During this excursion, you will have the opportunity to prepare a traditional meal featuring typical Namibian dishes such as fat cookies, etitis, and mopane worms to replenish your energy before continuing your exploration of Spitzkoppe. Don't forget to visit the famous stone arch for a memorable photo opportunity!
At the conclusion of the trip, we will return to Swakopmund and drop you off at your hotel.
