Segway Tour of Syracuse
We'll meet at your selected time at the parking lot by the port of Syracuse. Familiarization with the segways will occur before touring the historic avenues and squares of the city.
Syracuse was the most important city in Sicily during Ancient Greek times. The tour includes visits to its Hellenistic remains, such as the city walls and the Temple of Apollo, the first sites we will discover.
We will continue along Corso Matteotti to Archimedes Square. The significance of this square, named after the famous Greek engineer and mathematician, will be revealed during the tour.
After viewing the fountain of Artemis, we will proceed to the Cathedral of Syracuse, the nearby Benevento de Bosco Palace, and the Town Hall. We will then visit Maniace Castle, a 13th-century military fortress.
The segway tour will take us to the Lungomare di Levante, crossing the Umberto Bridge to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears.
We will visit the Regional Archaeological Museum, the Catacombs of St. John, and conclude with the theatre and amphitheatre, including the Ear of Dionysius, a limestone cave with an intriguing history.
The tour will return to the meeting point three hours after departure.
