Tacna and Campo de la Alianza Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tacna at your scheduled time to begin this historical tour.
The tour starts at the Municipal Theater, a structure from 1870 that served as a field hospital during the Battle of Tacna in 1880, where the Peruvian army and Bolivians fought against Chilean troops.
Next, we will visit the Casa de la Jurídica, where the act of surrender of Tacna to Peru was signed by the Chileans. We will also explore the house of Francisco Antonio de Zela, a leader in Peru's independence.
Then, we will pass by the house of Jorge Basadre Growman, a chronicler of Tacna's history, followed by a bus ride to the Campo de la Alianza, the site of the conflict for city control.
After exploring Campo de la Alianza, we'll visit the Museum of Arms to understand the battle's significance, and conclude at the Campo Santo, featuring a marble cross with a poem by Jorge Basadre and Jimenez Borja.
The tour lasts 3 hours, after which we will return you to your hotel in Tacna.
