Tacna and Campo de la Alianza Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tacna at the time of your choice for a tour focusing on the city's historical significance.
The tour begins with a visit to the Municipal Theater, built in 1870, which served as a field hospital during the Battle of Tacna in 1880. This battle involved the Peruvian army, supported by Bolivia, against Chilean troops.
Next, we will visit the Casa de la Jurídica, where the act of surrender of Tacna to Peru was signed by the Chileans after the battle. We will also see the house of Francisco Antonio de Zela, an independence leader.
Following this, we will pass by the house of Jorge Basadre Growman, a notable chronicler of Tacna's history, before taking a bus to Campo de la Alianza, the site of the intense fighting between Peruvians and Chileans.
After Campo de la Alianza, we will visit the Museum of Arms to learn about the battle's significance, concluding with a trip to the Campo Santo, where a marble cross features a poem by Jorge Basadre and Jimenez Borja.
After a 3-hour tour, we will return you to your hotel in Tacna.
