Amazon Rainforest: 4 or 5-Day Tour
4-Day Tour
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Tambopata
On the first day, we pick you up from the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado and start our tour with a two-hour drive into the Amazon Rainforest. We will arrive at the Tambopata River, board a boat to the lodge, and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we will take a jungle walk to observe wildlife before the day concludes.
Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick - Monkey Island
This day includes an early morning boat trip to El Chuncho, the largest macaw clay lick. After observing macaws, we visit a botanical garden to learn about local flora. Following lunch, we head to Monkey Island to see various monkey species. In the evening, we search for caimans and return for dinner.
Day 3: Sandoval Lake
We begin with a hike of 1.86 mi (3 km) through the jungle to Sandoval Lake. We’ll take a 2-hour boat ride to observe wildlife, including giant otters. After lunch, a night hike will explore nocturnal wildlife before dinner.
Day 4: Canopy Walk
We start with a Canopy Walk among hanging bridges, offering views from 30 meters (100 feet) high. After breakfast, we return to Puerto Maldonado, concluding the tour by midday.
5-Day Tour
The first three days mirror the 4-day tour. On Day 4, instead of returning, we hike around Lake Sandoval and explore its waters by traditional canoe to spot piranhas, followed by a night walk. Day 5 concludes with a return to Puerto Maldonado.
