Chuncho Collpa Tour 2/3 Day Tour

On this 2 or 3-day tour to the Chuncho collpa, you will experience Puerto Maldonado's natural offerings.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata National Reserve

You will be collected from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado and travel by 4x4 to the Tambopata River, a journey of approximately 2 hours. A boat will transport you to your accommodation for the night.

After lunch, an evening hike will take place in the tropical rainforest of the Tambopata National Reserve to observe local wildlife.

Day 2: Tambopata National Reserve – Puerto Maldonado

At around 4:30 am, you will depart the hotel in Tambopata for a 1.5-hour boat ride to Chuncho collpa to see the area’s animals including capibaras, tapirs, and jaguars.

Visitors will witness various species at the collpa that consume clay, alongside learning about distinct colorful bird species. After this visit, lunch will be served at the lodge. An evening walk around the botanical gardens to learn about local fruit, timber, and medicinal plants will follow.

Afterwards, you will return to Puerto Maldonado, concluding the 2-day itinerary.

3-day tour

For an extended experience, a 3-day tour includes an additional night at the lodge. On the second day, following the initial activities, a kayaking tour on the Tambopata River will occur to view larger reserve wildlife. A nighttime hike option is available for interested participants.

Accommodation

This tour includes 1 or 2 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazónico Lodge in Tambopata.

Pickup

Hotel pick-up in Puerto Maldonado is included. If accommodations are outside city limits, an additional fee of 50 to 70 USD will apply, payable on the activity day.
