Inkaterra Ecological Reserve 3 or 4-Day Tour

Description

Day 1

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Maldonado, the airport, or the bus station. We will travel 45 minutes by boat to the lodge on the banks of the Madre de Dios River near the Tambopata National Reserve.

Upon arrival, you'll settle into the cabins before exploring the virgin tropical rainforest. This area is home to more than 500 species of birds, 300 species of ants, and over 100 species of mammals.

After lunch, we will take a boat ride on the Madre de Dios River to observe wildlife. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll visit the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway for a view of the rainforest from above. Following this, we will return to the reserve for lunch.

Then we'll take a boat to explore river islands. The trip highlights the contrasting vegetation and bird species, including the Amazonian umbrellabird. Dinner will be followed by a night walk.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will return to Puerto Maldonado.

4-day tour

On the third day, after breakfast, we’ll explore more biodiversity in the area. We will walk through the swampy forests and visit the organic vegetable garden to learn about Amazonian tropical plants and their medicinal properties.

We'll visit the 30-hectare Palmetum with 19 species of Amazonian palms. Lunch will be served in the reserve, followed by another night walk at sunset. On the 4th day, we will have breakfast before returning to Puerto Maldonado.
