Trek through the rainforest and explore Lake Sandoval as you discover the wildest area in the Madre de Dios region.
Lake Sandoval Amazon Trek
We'll pick you up from your hotel and head to the Tambopata National Reserve, located just a 10-minute drive away. We'll go through the area known as the gateway to the Amazon and then we'll get onto dry land to start our trek. For approximately three kilometers we'll trek through the Amazonian flora and fauna, crossing paths with monkeys, reptiles, Ara parrots, and hawks.
After this route through the rainforest, we'll board a canoe and discover Lake Sandoval, part of the Tambopata National Reserve. From the water, we'll explore one of Peru's most important protected areas and spot unique species, such as giant river otters and black caimans.
We'll replenish our energy at a local restaurant, enjoying a typical Peruvian lunch before returning to Puerto Maldonado. We will drop you back at your hotel about 8 hours after pickup.
