On this 2 or 4-day visit to the Loero Amazonian community, you'll assist in the daily responsibilities of a local family, providing an authentic jungle experience.

2-day visit

Day 1

We will pick you up upon your arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado or your hotel. You will be transferred to the community of Loero, where you will be welcomed by a local family. During your stay, you will assist in daily tasks, including cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting. The first day focuses on planting crops such as papaya, corn, banana, or cassava, followed by traditional meals.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will pick fruit from the fields. Depending on your departure time, you may also fish in the Amazon River. Finally, we will return you to the airport, bus station, or hotel in Puerto Maldonado.

4-day visit

Days 1-2

The itinerary will mirror the 2-day tour. After lunch on the second day, you can fish in the Amazon River and swim if desired.

Day 3

The third day will involve visiting other farming or cattle ranching families and exploring the Tambopata Corridor, which includes a rescue center for Amazonian fauna and viewpoints. We will also discuss medicinal plants used by Indigenous Peoples and offer participation in an ayahuasca ceremony.

Day 4

Your experience will conclude with goodbyes to the local family, followed by transportation to the airport or your hotel in Puerto Maldonado.

Accommodation

The tour includes 1 or 3 nights of full-board accommodation in a local family's home. Prices are per person in a double room.

Important

Arrival time: To start activities early on the first day, be in Puerto Maldonado by 7 am or stay overnight at a hotel. The journey to Loero takes about 2 hours.

Departure time: Returns are scheduled for 4 hours before your flight, or 3 hours for bus travel. Early flights on the 2-day tour may limit activities on the second day; we recommend a flight at 4 pm. Afternoon bus departures allow for activities, while the 4-day tour has no planned activities on the final day.
