Parrot Clay Lick Tour
Pickup will be at 3 am from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado. The journey to the Tambopata River takes 2 hours by car, leading you into the Tambopata National Reserve.
Enjoy the drive along the river as the sun rises over Puerto Maldonado, providing picturesque views of the Amazon Jungle.
At the El Chuncho clay lick (locally known as a colpa), you will wait for brightly colored macaws to feed on the clay wall for about an hour. Observe various parrot and macaw species engaging in this behavior, showcasing their vibrant colors.
Following the clay lick excursion, you'll head to a lodge in the reserve, traversing a trail where sloths, capybaras, tapirs, and deer may be spotted. Lunch will be provided at the hacienda, after which a short walk around the property will take place. The tour concludes with a return to Puerto Maldonado, with drop-off at your hotel around 3 pm.
