Peruvian Jungle Multi-Day Tour

If you want to learn all about the sheer beauty of the Peruvian jungle, this 2 or 3-day tour of Isla de Monos and Lake Sandoval is for you. You'll spend a few days in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Isla de Monos

At the scheduled time, you will be collected from your Puerto Maldonado hotel and brought to the banks of the Tambopata River. After two hours, you will switch from a 4x4 to a boat to reach your accommodation for the first night.

After checking in and lunch, you will visit Isla Rolling, known as Isla de los Monos, a rescue centre for endangered primates. You will learn about the monkey species and have the chance to feed them. Later, there will be an opportunity to search for white caymans in the Madre de Dios River and possibly see capibaras.

You will return to the lodge for dinner and rest for the next day.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval – Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast at the hotel, you will trek through the jungle to Lake Sandoval, famous for its habitat for piranhas. You will navigate the lake, observing various animal species like cormorants, herons, pumas, monkeys, sloths, and giant nutria.

Following the boat ride, you will return to the hotel for lunch before heading back to Puerto Maldonado, concluding the trip late in the evening.

3-day tour

For the 3-day tour, the second day features a nighttime hike to learn about nocturnal jungle life. On the third day, you will experience the Tambopata Canopy Walkway at dawn, 30 meters above the ground, offering views of the Madre de Dios River and diverse birdlife.

After breakfast, you will return to Puerto Maldonado for lunch, ending the tour.

Accommodation

This tour includes 1 or 2 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazónico-Tambopata Lodge.

Pickup

The activity includes pick-up from hotels in Puerto Maldonado. If you are outside the city, the pick-up costs between 50 and 70 USD, payable on the day of the activity.
