Tambopata National Reserve 5 Day Tour

On this 5-day tour of the Tambopata National Reserve, you'll explore the flora and fauna of the Peruvian jungle and engage in activities like kayaking and ziplining.

What to Expect

Day 1

After pickup from Puerto Maldonado airport, bus station, or hotel, we will travel to the river port and board a boat to the Tambopata National Reserve. We will explore the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers before reaching our accommodation. After lunch, we visit Isla Rolling, also known as Monkey Island, a rescue center for primates. We will interact with the monkeys and then take a night hike to search for white caymans and possibly capybaras.

Day 2

Following breakfast, we will hike 3 kilometers through the tropical rainforest to Lake Sandoval, known for its piranhas. A boat tour will allow us to observe wildlife, including various birds and possibly giant otters. After lunch, we will participate in a nighttime hike to experience nocturnal wildlife before dinner at the hotel.

Day 3

On the third day, we will begin with a tour on the Canopy Walk-Way at dawn, observing birds from 30 meters above the ground. After breakfast, we will experience the zipline circuit and enjoy a kayak tour on the Madre de Dios river at sunset, including fishing opportunities, concluding with dinner at the hotel.

Day 4

In the morning, we will visit the parrot clay lick for birdwatching. After breakfast at the lodge, we will spend the afternoon with an indigenous family to learn about their customs. The day ends with dinner at the accommodation.

Day 5

The tour concludes after breakfast; we will depart around 8 am for your return to Puerto Maldonado airport, bus station, or hotel.

Accommodation and food

This tour includes 3 or 4 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazonico Lodge, equipped with necessary amenities.

Pickup

Pickup is available from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station, or hotel. Bus arrivals will be collected at 7 am; hotel stays at 8:40 am. Plane arrivals will be picked up upon arrival. Recommended flights include LA2258 arriving at 8:10 am, and for return, LA 2265 at 5:10 pm.

Pickup Outside of Puerto Maldonado

For pickups outside Puerto Maldonado, an additional fee of 50 to 70 USD will apply, payable on the day of the activity.
