Tambopata National Reserve 5 Day Tour

On this 5-day tour of the Tambopata National Reserve, you'll experience the flora and fauna of the Peruvian jungle and participate in adventure activities like kayaking and ziplining.

What to Expect

Day 1

We'll pick you up from the Puerto Maldonado airport, bus station, or your hotel, and then journey to the river port to board a boat to the Tambopata National Reserve. After navigating the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers, we will reach our accommodation, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we'll visit Isla Rolling (Monkey Island), a rescue center for primates. In the evening, we'll take a night hike around the area to search for white caymans and perhaps spot a capibara. The day concludes with dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will embark on a 3-kilometer hike to Lake Sandoval, famous for its piranhas. A boat tour around the lake will provide chances to see various animals. We will return to the lodge for lunch and take part in a nighttime hike to observe nocturnal wildlife, followed by dinner at the hotel.

Day 3

On day 3, we'll begin with a Canopy Walk-Way tour at dawn, followed by breakfast. Next, we'll experience a zipline circuit above the jungle. In the evening, we will enjoy a kayak tour on the Madre de Dios river and try fishing. The day ends with dinner at the hotel.

Day 4

We will start at the parrot clay lick in the morning to observe birds, then return for breakfast. In the afternoon, we'll visit an indigenous family to learn about their daily life. We will end the day with dinner at the accommodation.

Day 5

After breakfast, we'll begin our journey back to Puerto Maldonado around 8 am for your return to the airport, bus station, or hotel.

Accommodation and food

This tour includes 3 or 4 nights of accommodation based on your selection at the Monte Amazonico Lodge.

Pickup

Pickup is available exclusively from Puerto Maldonado Airport, the bus station, or your hotel. Those arriving by bus will be collected at 7 am, while hotel guests will be picked up at 8:40 am. If arriving by plane, pickup is upon arrival. The recommended flight is LA2258, arriving at 8:10 am.

Pickup Outside of Puerto Maldonado

If staying outside of Puerto Maldonado, pickup incurs an additional cost of 50 to 70 USD, depending on your location, to be paid on the day of the activity.
