7-Day Tambopata Tour Package

Day 1

Upon your arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, you will be greeted and taken to the river port to embark on a canoe trip along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. During this journey, you can enjoy a picnic as we observe the local wildlife, including the chestnut jacamar and the black-crowned heron, within the scenic Tambopata Nature Reserve.

Your first day concludes at our accommodation in Tambopata, where you will reside for the upcoming six nights. After some free time in the afternoon, we will gather for an evening walk to spot nocturnal creatures.

The day wraps up with dinner and a restful night at the hotel.

Day 2

We begin with an early breakfast, then set off at dawn towards the Tambopata clay lick. This unique location provides an opportunity to observe a plethora of striking Amazonian birds, prominently featuring various species of parrots and macaws.

Following this visual feast, we will return to the hotel for lunch before taking a brief 20-minute hike to Laguna Chica. Here, we’ll encounter diverse toucans showcasing their vividly colored beaks.

We will head back to the hotel for dinner and enjoy an evening of relaxation.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will venture into the Tambopata trail forests. This 6-kilometer (3-mile) trek offers the chance to witness the natural habitats of local avian species, including the semi-collared Bolio and the white-winged tanager.

A picnic amidst nature will enhance our expedition, allowing us to get close to other bird varieties such as the red-billed tanager and the red-billed toucan. We should return to the hotel by 4 PM, providing you with a leisurely evening to unwind or explore.

Day 4

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast, for today we ascend to the highest birding tower in the Amazon. At a height of 46 meters (150 feet), we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Tambopata Reserve, where the turquoise tanagers and powerful harpy eagles soar above us!

After enjoying lunch at the lodge, we’ll continue our adventure to Laguna Chica to observe unique bird species like peacocks and yellow woodpeckers. A delightful dinner at the lodge will end this action-packed day.

Day 5

Starting early, we will trek five kilometers (3 miles) to Lake Cocococha, arriving as dawn breaks. This prime time will be ideal for spotting low-flying birds, such as red-bellied macaws, long-billed tropicbirds, and sociable kingfishers.

After enjoying a picnic, we’ll return to the hotel by 4 PM. Later that night, those interested can join a special night canoe trip to look for Tambopata alligators!

Day 6

The sixth day is dedicated to exploring different parts of the trail that remain to be discovered, providing one more chance to observe the remarkable birdlife that Tambopata has to offer!

Day 7

On the final morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we will take you back to Puerto Maldonado airport, ensuring you have ample time to embark on your onward journey.

Your tour includes 6 nights of accommodation, depending on your selection, at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge. All meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are provided as part of a full board arrangement.
