Tambopata Tour Package: 7 Days

Day 1

After pickup from Puerto Maldonado airport, we will head to the river port for a canoe ride along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. Enjoy a picnic on board while discovering local fauna around the Tambopata Nature Reserve, including the chestnut jacamar and black-crowned herons. The day concludes with check-in at our accommodation in Tambopata for the next 6 nights, followed by an evening walk to observe nocturnal animals.

Day 2

Early breakfast followed by sailing to the Tambopata clay lick at sunrise to view exotic Amazonian birds, particularly parrots and macaws. After lunch, a short 20-minute walk to Laguna Chica to see various toucans. Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3

Following breakfast, we explore the Tambopata trail forests on a 6-kilometer trekking route, observing the natural habitat of local birds like the semi-collared Bolio. We enjoy a picnic in nature while continuing the trek to spot the red-billed tanager and toucan. Return to the hotel at 4 pm, free time afterward.

Day 4

After breakfast, we climb the highest birding tower in the Amazon to experience views of the Tambopata Reserve and various native birds. After lunch, we walk to Laguna Chica to see unique birds such as peacocks and yellow woodpeckers. Dinner at the lodge concludes the day.

Day 5

After an early breakfast, we walk five kilometers to Lake Cocococha, arriving at dawn for optimal bird viewing, including red-bellied macaws and kingfishers. After a picnic, return to the hotel by 4 pm. Dinner followed by an optional night canoe trip to search for Tambopata alligators.

Day 6

This day is dedicated to exploring other areas of the trail for a chance to see more exotic birds.

Day 7

After breakfast, transfer to Puerto Maldonado airport, allowing ample time to catch your flight.

Accommodation

This tour includes 6 nights of accommodation at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge, with full board meaning all meals are provided.
