Mount Etna & Taormina Excursion

The excursion commences at 9:30 am, gathering in front of Porta Catania in Taormina. From this central point, we will travel inward toward the majestic slopes of Etna, recognized as the largest active volcano in Europe, which lies approximately an hour from our meeting location.

Our first destination will be the Sapienza Refuge, where we will receive insights into the volcano's recent activities and its impressive height of 3000 meters. Following this, a walking tour will guide us through discussions of the most significant eruptions throughout history, with particular focus on the notable incident of 1892.

Afterward, our journey will take us back to Taormina, celebrated as one of the island's most picturesque towns. During a guided exploration of this remarkable city, we will stroll along the bustling Corso Umberto and visit the stunning Duomo of Taormina, located in a quaint medieval square.

To deepen our understanding of Taormina's rich heritage, we will uncover its vital Roman artifacts, including the spectacular Greco-Roman theater of Taormina. As you learn about the city's compelling history, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas of Mount Etna—an iconic symbol of Sicily!

The excursion will conclude back at our initial meeting point around 3:30 pm.
