Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Porta Messina to commence this free tour of Taormina. Throughout this guided tour, we'll delve into the city's history and explore its most prominent monuments.
We will appreciate a diverse range of architectural styles from the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, and Angevins, each contributing to the rich tapestry of this Sicilian coastal town.
Our itinerary includes the Odeon Theater, commissioned by Caesar Augustus Ottaviano in the 2nd century, as well as medieval residences such as the Corvaja Palace. We will visit the Church of Santa Catalina and stroll through IX April Square.
We will also see the renowned Taormina Cathedral and the significant Greek theater, which has been a point of fame for this town since its construction in the 3rd century B.C. After about an hour and a half of sightseeing, we'll conclude our tour near Porta Catania.
