Valley of the Temples + Roman Villa of Casale Day Trip
Meet us at the Taormina bus station to start our day trip to the Valley of the Temples and the Roman Villa of Casale.
The first stop is Agrigento, home to the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Here, notable landmarks include the Temple of Juno and the Temple of Concordia, featuring the remains of a paleochristian necropolis. Other highlights include the Temple of Heracles and the sites of the Temple of Zeus.
Participants will have one hour of free time for lunch at nearby local restaurants before proceeding to Piazza Armerina. The journey continues to the Roman Villa of Casale, the site of significant archaeological interest. Discovered by Gino Vinicio Gentili, the villa features vibrant mosaics, including a rare depiction of women engaging in sports such as disc throwing and lifting weights.
After 12 hours exploring these historic sites, we will return to the meeting point, concluding the day.
