Valley of the Temples + Roman Villa of Casale Day Trip
Meet us at the Taormina bus station to start our day trip to the Valley of the Temples and the Roman Villa of Casale.
Our first stop is at Agrigento, home to the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. We will visit landmarks such as the Temple of Juno and the Temple of Concordia, which includes a paleochristian necropolis.
Next, we will explore the Temple of Heracles and the remains of the Temple of Zeus. We will also see the Temples of Castor and Pollux before enjoying an hour of free time for lunch at nearby restaurants.
After lunch, we will head to Piazza Armerina and visit the Roman Villa of Casale, discovered by Gino Vinicio Gentili in the 1950s. The villa features vibrant mosaics, including a depiction of women engaged in disc throwing and lifting weights.
After 12 hours exploring the Valley of the Temples and the Roman Villa of Casale, we will return to our meeting point to conclude the day.
