Join us on our Lamas day trip and explore the cultural contrasts of this town, known for its Indigenous communities and medieval fortress, located a few miles from Tarapoto.
Lamas Day Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto at the scheduled time and set off to Lamas in our minibus, with the journey lasting approximately 30 minutes.
Upon arrival in Lamas, we will visit the Plaza de Armas. While we admire the golden sculptures, we will discuss the town's fascinating history, including its conquests and the settlers fleeing from the Incas. We will also learn about the Indigenous communities and their festivals at the Chanka Museum during a 30-minute tour.
Next, we will explore Lamas Castle, an iconic tourist attraction. This medieval-style fortress provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, showcasing the contrasts of a town situated in the Peruvian jungle. Although its style seems ancient, we will discuss its recent construction.
We will then visit the Wayku community of Lamas to see their unique windowless houses and discuss their significance.
The day trip will conclude as we return to Tarapoto, approximately three hours after departure.
