Join us on a day trip to the Santa Elena Reserve, including a canoe ride through the Alto Mayo wetlands and a visit to the Caves of Palestine.

Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel in Tarapoto. We will board our minibus for a 2-hour 30-minute drive to the town of Rioja, where you will enjoy a typical breakfast along with an infusion or coffee.

After breakfast, we will proceed to the Alto Mayo wetlands, where canoes await. You will row down the Romero River for 2 hours, observing local wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, otters, and reptiles.

Next, we will travel to Nueva Cajamarca to explore the Caves of Palestine. During the visit, you will walk through the underground paths and learn about the unique rock formations from your guide.

After leaving the caves, we will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, which includes a main course and a drink.

The trip concludes with a return to your hotel in Tarapoto, completing a total of around 12 hours.
