Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

Join us on an adventure to the Santa Elena Reserve on our day trip from Tarapoto. This trip includes a canoe ride through the Alto Mayo wetlands and a visit to the Caves of Palestine.

Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto early in the morning and board our minibus for the trip to the Santa Elena Reserve.

After a 2-hour 30-minute drive, we will arrive in the town of Rioja, where we will have a typical breakfast with an infusion or coffee.

Next, we will head to the Alto Mayo wetlands to board our canoes. We will row down the Romero River for 2 hours, observing various wildlife species such as monkeys, sloths, otters, and reptiles.

Following the canoe ride, we will proceed to Nueva Cajamarca to visit the Caves of Palestine. There, we will explore the underground paths of the caverns and learn about their unique formations from our guide.

After leaving the Caves of Palestine, we will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant that includes a main course and a drink.

We will conclude our day trip with a return to your hotel in Tarapoto after approximately 12 hours.
