Join us on an adventure to the Santa Elena Reserve from Tarapoto, including a canoe ride through the Alto Mayo wetlands and a visit to the Caves of Palestine.

Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto in the morning and depart for the Santa Elena Reserve.

After a 2-hour 30-minute drive, we will arrive in the town of Rioja for a typical breakfast with an infusion or coffee.

Following breakfast, we will proceed to the Alto Mayo wetlands, where canoes will be ready. We will row down the Romero River for 2 hours, observing wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, otters, and reptiles.

Next, we will visit Nueva Cajamarca to explore the Caves of Palestine. In the caves, we will walk through the underground paths and learn facts from the guide about the unique rock formations.

After exploring the caves, we will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, which includes a main course and a drink.

We will then return to your hotel in Tarapoto, concluding our day trip after approximately 12 hours.
