Embark on a captivating 6-day expedition through the Tariquía National Reserve, a realm where striking landscapes meet ancient tales in Bolivia. This journey promises not only to navigate through lush terrains but also to delve into the rich history embedded in the land.

6-day Hiking Journey in Bolivia

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a 6 am pickup from your hotel in Tarija as we venture towards the Tariquía National Reserve. Situated in the southeastern region of Tarija, this natural haven unfolds before us after a two-hour drive, culminating at Abra de la Hondura. Here, our inaugural hike commences.

As we traverse rivers and canyons, we will ascend to the viewpoint of Cerro de la Escalera, where panoramic vistas of the town of Patanchada emerge, nestled within the reserve. Our day concludes in the community of San José, where we will establish our camp for the night.

Day 2

Following a wholesome breakfast, we continue our trek towards Abra Potrerillo, an ideal spot for a midday rest and lunch. We will press on, surrounded by rivers and mountains, eventually reaching the town of Abra Potrerillo. The remainder of the day is at your leisure, with optional activities available, including horseback riding.

Day 3

After our morning meal, we will embark on foot towards the town of Motoví, renowned for its unique Piedra Ombliguda, a fascinating rock formation that resembles a navel!

The day will be dedicated to exploring Motoví and uncovering its intriguing myths and legends, culminating in a restful evening in preparation for the adventures ahead.

Day 4

On the fourth day, post-breakfast, our route takes us to the community of La Cueva, historically inhabited by the Guarani people. Here, we will immerse ourselves in the captivating stories of the past. The day involves exploration around this enigmatic area, and as night falls, we will again set up camp under the stars.

Day 5

Our penultimate day starts with breakfast before we depart towards Cambarí, a stunning natural locale where you can observe the diverse local fauna. Situated within the bounds of the Tariquía National Reserve, this habitat is home to conservation-focused species, including the taruca (Andean deer), the jukumari bear, and the military parrot.

Day 6

As we conclude our remarkable 6-day journey, breakfast will be served before we depart from the Tariquía National Reserve, making a midday stop in Sidras for lunch. Expect to return to your hotel in the early afternoon.
