Tarija Stargazing Activity

At 7 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tarija and travel by minibus to the National Astronomical Observatory of Santa Ana. This observatory is a key Bolivian institution where the official time of the country is broadcast.

Facilities include photographic laboratories, workshops, and telescopes. We will begin with a tour of the observatory to learn about the instruments used for observing planets, satellites, and stars. Staff will utilize laser pointers to direct us to each planet in the sky.

You will have the opportunity to look through the telescope to spot bright stars like Alpha Centauri, Sirius, and Canopus, as well as planets including Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

After our observation session, we will go to the audiovisual room for a documentary on astronomy.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Tarija, arriving at 10 pm.
